About the Doulas

ELISABETH PAYNE -Birth and Postpartum Doula Red Deer & Area

It is because of her birth and postpartum experience and transition with her first born that she decided to become a Doula. She is trained as a Birth Doula through DONA and as a Postpartum Doula through DONA as well and is now working on completing her certification for both with DONA. She is currently in the  Passion for Birth Childbirth Education Program for LAMAZE as a Lamaze Childbirth Educator and is working on certification to be a LCCE as well.

Elisabeth feels that every woman should have the knowledge she needs to birth as she desires whether it be completely natural or with medicinal help. When you desire a natural birth, continual support throughout the birth of the new baby from a loving and compassionate ‘friend’ is the ultimate way to achieve a relaxed experience.

Elisabeth feels that all birthing woman need to feel protected by their environment and those around her. All moms need an experienced birthing friend around to advocate for her and guide her through this beautiful experience that can be “orgasmic” when your baby arrives.

Elisabeth also thinks great support is also needed during the new babies “fourth trimester” to help ease the transition process and help ease anxiety, exhaustion, insecurities, depression and frustration. Elisabeth wishes that more people knew of the power of a good support system during birth and those crucial first months of life with a newborn. She hopes to help moms of new little ones with their transition, and help them and their family with adapting to the changes a and needs that come with the arrival of a new baby.
